Shoe Style Predications for 2019

Now that we’re well into the swing of 2019, we’re beginning to look forward to what the new year has to offer. 2018 was a great year for shoe style with heritage footwear enjoying a real revival. We hope this trend will continue into 2019 and beyond.

So what can we expect from footwear trends in the coming year?

Modern Moccasins

Moccasins may seem old fashioned, but they’re actually a great casual shoe. These shoes are distinguished by the visible stitching creating a ‘U’ shape around the toe box of the shoe. They’re generally made out of soft leather or suede. Though they’re not usually appropriate for a formal office or a dinner party, moccasins are a great smart/casual option for the spring and summer months.

Statement Soles

If you like your shoes with added pizzazz, this is the look for you. Many fashion houses are looking to add a bit of extra interest to otherwise classic shoes with bold statement soles. We’re not quite talking the bright primary colours of previous seasons: this look has been paired down for the new year. But expect flashes of colour, unexpected materials, contrast neutrals and even the odd bit of glitter.

Army-inspired Rubber Soles

It seems this could be the year of the sole! In addition to statement soles, many shoemakers are mixing things up by adding army-inspired commando soles to their shoes. These soles are constructed from rubber and are designed with a very heavy tread, which makes them very practical in inclement weather.

Look out for them on anything from monk straps to derbies to Chelsea boots. This is certainly a way to keep wearing even your most beautifully cut shoes during the harshest months of winter.
