Shoe Style Watch: Autumn/Winter 2017

Shoe aficionados might be keen to keep an eye on what’s what in footwear on the catwalks. The Autumn/Winter season is just around the corner and it will soon be time to start lacing on more weather appropriate shoes.

If you’re big on boots, you’ll be pleased to hear that they are major news this season. Particularly key styles for 2017 are the classic desert boot and hybrid smart/casual boots. Both these boot types are excellent choices for when the weather turns as they’ll protect your feet from the elements, whatever the weather throws at you.

Like the idea of on trend boots? We think you’ll love the Balmoral Boot Rain, the Desert Boot Tetbury and the Wingtip Boot Islay.

Traditional formal footwear is currently undergoing something of a transformation across the major fashion houses. Unexpected details are being worked in such as brightly coloured soles or laces, alternative materials or embellishments. There’s also been a fair amount of interest in contrast leatherwork and luxe fabrics and textures.

Want to get a taste of this for yourself? Check out the Woven Tassel Loafer, the Wingtip Oxfords Rain and the Double Monk Strap Inca.

Alternatively, you could give more traditional footwear a 2017 update by switching out black or brown laces for something brighter. This is a very easy tweak that can give your shoes a whole new look with absolutely no commitment.

A pair of classic Oxfords like the Wholecut Rain or the Oxford Edgware could look very striking with coloured laces. Equally; if you decide it isn’t the look for you, it’s extremely easy to thread your original laces back in.
