A Guide to Autumn Footwear

Autumn Shoes

The weather is turning and summer footwear favourites such as loafers and boat shoes are no longer appropriate. Luckily, this season’s alternatives are very attractive.

Autumn is the beginning of boot season, and we’re pleased to declare it officially open. There’s something immensely satisfying about slipping your feet into a pair of smart sturdy boots, whether they’re well loved or brand new.

Whatever your style, we’re sure you’ll find a pair of autumn boots to suit it. Chelsea boots are the obvious choice, but chukka boots and desert boots are also incredibly versatile. Boots like these can be worn with just about any autumn outfit, whether it’s a suit for the Monday to Friday nine to five, or a pair of jeans and a sweater at the weekend. Take a look at the Chelsea Boot Lingfield and  the Desert Boot Tetbury for inspiration.

If you’re looking for something a little more formal but still want all the warmth and practicality of a boot, we’ve got a great suggestion for you. Brogue boots can be an excellent choice for formal autumn events, as they look just as smart as brogue shoes but are generally warmer and more practical. We love the Wingtip Boot Islay and the Balmoral Boot Rain styles.

On milder autumn days, you may want to stick with more traditional formal footwear such as the Oxford Edgware, the Wingtip Derby Pembroke or the Wingtip Oxford Drummond. Though these don’t provide as much warmth or weather protection as boots, they are classic enough to look great all year round. Just don’t forget to pair them with warm socks!
